Just 33 days to go until the exciting 50 day GOSD begins. Before you purchase your ticket make sure you’ve checked out this years new SUPER Ticket. $60 from each $200 HST included SUPER Ticket sold is going to be added to the jackpot and the three lucky SUPER ticket holders that enter the heaviest Chinooks will be cashing in.

For the first time in Derby history on July 14th anglers aged 8-16 will have the opportunity to win $600 in gift certificates courtesy of  JB’s Fishing Depot and Gagnons Sports. The young angler who enters the heaviest salmon with proof of age at one of our 10 weigh-in stations will win it all. SPECIAL Junior Angler tickets are available for July 14th  at a cost of $25 HST included.

Only our single $125 Derby tickets will be available at selected retailers and most weigh-in stations. Don’t forget you must purchase your ticket the day BEFORE you  fish in the GOSD.

GOOD news is that water levels seem to be normal this year and I have notice that all boat  launching facilities are open and operating.

The fishing has been very good the last several weeks and several Charter captains have reported 25-30 fish charters with most fish weighing in between 15-18 lbs. I have heard there was a 27+lb. Chinook caught in the St. Catherines area.

Time to re spool, sharpen hooks and match those flies and flashers.
