June 28…GOSD Eve

By | GOSD 2019 | No Comments

I hope everyone has had fun chasing Chinooks this spring. For some of us tonight is kind of like Christmas Eve. The anticipation has reached a peak and the many ticket holders of the 23rd GOSD are dreaming of screaming reels and a trip to one of the 10 weigh-in stations across the north shore.

Hooks have been sharpened, flies have been tied and cut bait has been cured. Some of us will have a difficult time sleeping tonight because we’ll be planning our first spreads of the morning. Will I run spoons? What colour GIBBS/DELTA flasher and flies ? or will I start with cut bait?

Make sure you have your COSTA sunglasses with you and plenty of water in your YETI cooler and… oh yes don’t forget your Derby ticket and the Derby ticket for EVERYONE aboard.

From all of us be safe, be courteous to other anglers, watch the weather and wear your PFD.

If you haven’t retied your bait rigs, matched your favourite flies and flashers and bought that Freedom Cut Bait Herring plug you better get with it.

The exciting edition of the 2019 GOSD is only days away.

All our electronic scales have been calibrated and have been delivered to our 10 weigh-in stations all in preparation of your giant entry between the hours of 9am-8pm during the Derby.  Speaking of entries, make sure everyone on your vessel has a valid 2019 Derby ticket. After you enter your salmon make sure all the information on your weigh-in station receipt is legible and accurate. Take a picture with your cell phone of your receipt and keep it in case it’s needed.

Junior Angler Day is Saturday July 13th and is available to anglers age 8-16 only. ( $25 Junior Anglers Day ticket available) All entries have to be made at one of the 10 official weigh–in stations by 8pm.

IMPORTANT : MAKE SURE YOUR JUNIOR ANGLER HAS PROOF OF AGE AND THAT YOU RECEIVE A LEGIBLE, ACCURATE RECEIPT FROM THE WEIGH-IN STATION. TAKE A PHOTO OF THE RECEIPT AND EMAIL IT TO:  Tustin at gosd@sportshows.ca  as close to the time of your entry as possible.

All tickets are available at www.greatontariosalmonderby.ca

We wish all our participants a safe fishing season
